Xbox has given its strongest hint yet to the multiplatform future of Activision Blizzard games since last month’s acquisition deal between the companies was announced.

In a new Microsoft Blog, the president of the company Brad Smith has written to address the company’s plans. His initial statement is similar to that of Xbox head Phil Spencer on Call of Duty‘s future on PlayStation. “To be clear, Microsoft will continue to make Call of Duty and other popular Activision Blizzard titles available on PlayStation through the term of any existing agreement with Activision.”

However, Smith also seemed to commit a little further than Phil. “And we have committed to Sony that we will also make them available on PlayStation beyond the existing agreement and into the future so that Sony fans can continue to enjoy the games they love”. He continued “We are also interested in taking similar steps to support Nintendo’s successful platform. We believe this is the right thing for the industry, for gamers and for our business.”

It’s now been a little over three weeks removed since Xbox announced it was buying Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion dollars. The deal is still subject to approval from regulators, and last week Bloomberg reported the Federal Trade Commission would be looking into the deal. With big names like Call of Duty in the mix, it’s little wonder the subject of their future is a big talking point. However, according to a recent report, also by Bloomberg, “at least” the next three Call of Duty games are a lock regardless of what happens.
