What happens when you buy the Swim Trunks in Blue Prince?
When you buy the Swim Trunks from the Gift Shop, a pair of trunks will spawn in the Pool Room, specifically in the water itself. It’s one of the many examples of word play in Blue Prince, including the title of the game. To access the trunks, you’ll first need to draft the Pool room. Doing this will add the Pump Room to the draft pool. Draft the Pump Room when it pops up and drain the water from the pool, like you did for the fountain to reach the Underground.
If you now head back to the Pool room, you’ll find a pair of trunks at the bottom of the pool where the water was before. If you don’t have the Swim Trunks, you’ll instead find several piles of coins. You can unlock the chests using any standard key or use the sledge hammer to shatter the padlock as you usually would. They typically contain a spread of keys, gems, and coins.
Is it worth buying the Swim Trunks then? Absolutely, a guaranteed pair of chests in the Pool room is a boon in any run, giving you a welcome top-up of much-needed resources.
