Being able to catch your opponents by surprise will often give you an advantage. That goes double in Call of Duty Black Ops 6 multiplayer, where you face off against real people on the other side. Predictable movement can mean certain death, so having the skills to disrupt that is a major benefit. One such manoeuvre is the slide cancel, which disrupts the slide animation into a jump on your feet, ready to blast. We’ll explain how it’s done.
How to slide cancel with omnimovement in BO6
Many players have noticed that slide cancel doesn’t work like it used to in previous Call of Duty games. That is because the newly-added omnimovement mechanic somewhat restricts the old way of doing it. If you do it like before, there is a delay between cancelling the slide and resuming a firing stance. In this new version, you need to time your cancels correctly to get the full advantage of the move. Generally speaking, this is the sequence that you should input to perform a slide cancel:
- While moving, start to Tac Sprint.
- Press Crouch to start sliding.
- Just as you start sliding, press Jump to cancel the slide.
- Quickly ADS to resume the firing stance.
While the addition of omnimovement means that slide cancels aren’t as strong as before, the move still has good uses. For one, it now gives you a slight speed boost in the run-up. And with the ability to dive in any direction, we expect that players will soon come up with new variations of the manoeuvre.
If you’re playing on a controller, then this is the button combination you’re looking for:
- PlayStation: O to Sprint, O again to Tac Sprint, press thumb-stick to Crouch, then quickly X to Jump.
- Xbox: B to Sprint, B again to Tac Sprint, press thumb-stick to Crouch, then quickly A to Jump.
Remember that on console, you have to hold the thumb-stick down to keep sliding.
If you’re playing on mouse and keyboard, the default keys are as follows:
- Left Shift to Sprint, Left Shift again to Tac Sprint, C to Crouch, then quickly Spacebar to Jump.
