If you’ve recently encountered an issue where the Ghost Perk is locked or greyed out in Black Ops 6, you’re not alone. Many players have gotten this error since the update, which prevents the perk from being used even after meeting its requirements. In this guide, we’ll explain why this issue occurs and explain a temporary quick fix to help you continue playing without being tracked by enemy UAVs.
Why is the Ghost perk blocked in Black Ops 6?
Since the latest update, some players have noticed that the Ghost perk remains inaccessible, despite reaching the required Player Level 17. This perk has been one of the most popular ones since the launch of BO6, granting you the ability to stealth through the enemy’s detection methods. Without it, you’re left vulnerable to being spotted by enemies who rely on surveillance to track your movements. This issue isn’t related to progression or your loadout picks – it’s a known bug affecting the players. The devs are aware of the problem and have acknowledged it on their official Trello board, on which they track ongoing issues. While they are working on a permanent bug fix, players will need to wait for an upcoming patch to fully resolve the bug. Until then, Ghost will remain unusable for those affected – unless you use a temporary workaround described below.
Temporary fix for the Ghost perk bug
While waiting for an official patch, there is a temporary workaround to bypass the issue. Some players have found and reported this makeshift fix on Reddit and it seems to work while the bug is being fixed. Follow these steps to use the Ghost perk despite the glitch:
- Go to the loadout screen where you set up your builds.
- Find an existing premade loadout that already has the Ghost perk equipped.
- Once you have the class with Ghost, duplicate it by copying it to a new slot.
- You can now modify other aspects of the class as needed but do not remove or change the Ghost perk itself.
- Save the class and you should now be able to use the Ghost perk without issues.
This workaround has worked for many players, allowing them to continue using Ghost until a more permanent solution is implemented in the game. By following this quick fix, you should be able to mitigate the effects of the Ghost perk bug and get back to stealthily taking down your enemies. Keep an eye out for updates from Treyarch and Activision, as a full fix is expected in a future hotfix.
