Searching for the best FTAC Recon loadout in MW2? You’ve come to the right place. There are fewer Battle Rifles than most other weapon classes in Modern Warfare 2, but the ones that are available are something really special. The FTAC Recon is one of these rare breed, offering high damage, accuracy, and rate of fire.

Master the FTAC Recon, and you’ll hardly ever have to get up close to your opponents again. You can rack up headshots with high bullet velocity before they even get a chance to discover you. But first, you might want to go over how to get longshot kills in Modern Warfare 2.

Best FTAC Recon loadout and attachments in MW2

  • Muzzle: XRK Kraken
  • Laser: Corio LAZ-44 V3
  • Optic: SZ Recharge-DX
  • Stock: Demo Fade Pro Stock
  • Magazine: 15 Round Mag

Our FTAC Recon loadout is designed to minimise vertical recoil without excessively slowing down the rifle’s manoeuvrability. Since this weapon excels in close-quarters combat, tampering with its ADS or sprint-to-fire speed would make it not so reliable.

For recoil reduction, the optimal muzzle attachment for the FTAC Recon is the XRK Kraken. Using this with a quality optic like the SZ Recharge-DX significantly enhances the ability to maintain target accuracy when shooting.

Using the 15-Round Mag is essential in Modern Warfare 2. This is because killing an enemy tends to consume an entire magazine. With that said, the FTAC Recon proves most effective in Solos and Duos, where the need for frequent reloading is less likely to result in unfavourable situations.

With the three attachments currently equipped are likely to slow down the FTAC Recon’s speed, opting for the Corio LAZ-44 V3 laser and Demo Fade Pro Stock is advisable to enhance mobility. The laser enhances ADS and aiming stability, while the stock increases movement speed and strafe speed.

Best perks and equipment for FTAC Recon in MW2

  • Base Perk 1: Overkill
  • Base Perk 2: Double Time
  • Bonus Perk: Fast Hands
  • Ultimate Perk: High Alert
  • Lethal: Throwing Knife
  • Tactical: Smoke Grenade

The Overkill Base Perk helps compensate for the drawbacks of the FTAC Recon. Given that the rifle’s strengths are prominent within 30 meters, it’s best to pair it with a versatile, precise assault rifle or LMG such as the ISO Hemlock or Sakin MG38.

Since the FTAC Recon shines in close-range encounters, Double Time is an ideal choice for extending your tactical sprint duration. Also, it offers a 30% boost to crouch movement speed, which proves excellent for stealthy manoeuvres.

The FTAC Recon’s limited magazine capacity is one of the weapon’s main drawbacks, causing you to reload frequently. In light of this, Fast Hands is a logical selection since it significantly reduces the rifle’s reload time.

As the Ultimate Perk, High Alert proves excellent, enabling swift reactions to players targeting you from behind. Given the FTAC Recon’s impressive time-to-kill (TTK), starting combat with the first shot is crucial, and High Alert greatly aids in giving you this advantage.

Best weapons to pair with the FTAC Recon in MW2

There are some pretty cool handguns that go along with the FTYAC Recon in Modern Warfare 2 and we’ve listed them below:

Expedite 12 Shotgun

A peerless close-range weapon, the Expedite 12 allows you to clear rooms in a flash and mow down any enemies foolish enough to get close to you. The FTAC Recon tends to be lacking the closer your opponents get, but the Expedite 12 will blow them away with a pull of the trigger if they try to exploit this weakness.

X13 Auto Handgun

The X13 Auto is right up there among the best subweapons in Modern Warfare 2, and an attractive option with decent mobility for anyone not including the Overkill perk in their loadout. Its rate of fire is surprisingly fast, and while its efficacy may drop off at longer ranges, that’s where the FTAC Recon comes in.

FTAC Recon: Alternative weapon choice

If you’re getting on well with the FTAC Recon, but want to branch out into something similar, we have a couple of suggestions for you.

Lachmann-762

The starting Battle Rifle in MW2, the Lachmann-762 remains a sturdy, reliable choice if you gravitate towards BR but don’t want to stick with the Recon exclusively.

Lockwood MK2

A Marksman Rifle with excellent accuracy and high single-shot damage. If you’re used to the clip conservation necessary to make the FTAC Recon sing, you’ll get on great with the Lockwood.

FTAC Recon Tips And Tricks

  • You’ll want to reduce the FTAC Recon’s recoil as much as possible, as in its base state it really suffers compared to other, more stable, options.
  • Unlock the FTAC Recon quickly by leveling the M4 up to level 13.
