Masters of the engrossing RPG Obsidian are back with Avowed, a brand new IP that sidelines the celestial themes of The Outer Worlds for a more traditional fantasy setting. Magic wielding, engrossing characters, stacks of branching dialogue options, multiple endings, and vibrant world to explore in the Living Lands – Avowed should have those partial to a deep RPG more than a little excited.
With Obsidian forming part of the cohort of studios and developers bought by Microsoft as part of its 2018 spending spree, there are some understandable questions around whether the RPG will be available on Xbox’s Game Pass subscription service. The short answer is that yes, Avowed will be available to play on Game Pass.
Is Avowed on Game Pass?
Avowed is penciled for a day one release on Game Pass to coincide with the game’s worldwide launch on February 18, 2025. It will be available to play for those with active subscriptions on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Cloud. However, you’ll need to have the right tier of Game Pass to access the game, as follows:

To play day one, or anytime after that, on Xbox Series X|S, make sure you have an active Game Pass Ultimate subscription. As for those on PC, a Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass subscription will get you access to the game.
Does the Game Pass version of Avowed get the pre-order bonus?
If you’re jumping in via the Game Pass version, you will indeed get access to the pre-order bonus, both on PC and console. That applies whether you download the game on release date or a year late.
Does Avowed on Game Pass get 5 days early access?
No, unfortunately, the Game Pass version of Avowed will only be available to play on the official launch day, February 18, 2025, and doesn’t grant access to the 5 day early access you receive when you pre-order the Premium Edition. That applies to both Xbox Series X|S and PC.
