Can you play Atomfall in co-op or multiplayer?

No, from the very first reveal back during the Xbox Showcase at the Summer Game Fest in June 2024, Atomfall has been billed as a single player survival-action experience. The focus is on dropping players into a series of interconnected areas that form a quarantine zone that’s meant to be explored alone, notably via Game Pass if you have an active subscription.

It’s a place ripe for exploration and full of opportunities to scavenge, craft, barter, and smooth talk the locals. That is, if you can handle the ever present threat from irradiated mutants, a cult, rogue military goons, and even robots pieced together by the dubious British Atomic Research Division. Though Atomfall is in part a survival game, it’s on the lighter side of what we’ve come to expect from the genre, presumably to cater for the solo experience.

While there’s always the chance that developer Rebellion might release a post-launch update that features some sort of multiplayer or co-op functionality, there’s been no official announcement to that tune and we fully expect the game to remain single player for its entire life span.
