Should you pick the ‘Justice must be served’ dialogue option in Assassin’s Creed Shadows? After a high-stakes assault on Amagasaki Castle, you’re presented with what feels like a major decision: either spare the soldier and side with Yaya or to go along with Mitsumune and dish out justice by killing the man.

This dialogue choice makes up the closing moments of the Heads Will Roll quest, which has you infiltrate the castle to kill The Wounded Onryo, Wada Koretake. It’s a heated moment where tensions are running high. We can’t blame you for second guessing which option to pick. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the consequences of choosing ‘Justice must be served’ or ‘Killing them isn’t justice’ in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Assassin's Creed Shadows Justice must be served: Naoe dialogue choice.
Decisions, decisions. Captured by VideoGamer

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Heads Will Roll dialogue option outcomes

Choose the ‘Justice must be served’ dialogue option and the soldier will die. Alongside, Yaya will look disapprovingly on your choice. This in itself won’t prevent you from recruiting her as an ally. Just make sure to pick the right the dialogue choices in the The Stray Dog ally quest that follows. If you were playing in Canon Mode, this is the decision Naoe would make. This implies that siding with Mitsumune is the outcome the developers intended even though Yaya disapproves.

If you choose ‘Killing them isn’t justice’, the soldier will still die. Yaya will look favourably on your choice and approve, setting you up to recruit her as an ally. All you need from here is to ensure you pick the right answer once in the The Stray Dogs ally quest and she’ll join the League

Overall, the stakes are quite low regardless of which option you select. The soldier dies either way. Neither choice locks you out of recruiting Yaya later on. If you want the most authentic response, go with ‘Justice must be served.’ Otherwise spare the man as this seems like the more moral choice. That’s what I picked when playing for our Assassin’s Creed Shadows review. It felt like the ‘right’ thing to do.
