How to save in single player in ARK Survival Ascended

Saving your game in single player in ARK Survival Ascended is simple. Just open up your main menu by hitting Escape, and then you should see the Save Game option right in the middle of your screen. Simply hit that, and your game will be saved.

This is handy as it means you can immediately load up your game the next time you start it up. From the main menu, you can resume your last session with the click of a button, dropping you right where you were when you saved during your last time playing, or go deeper and choose between multiple save files.

As well as autosaving when you leave the game, ARK Survival Ascended will autosave at regular intervals in case your game crashes, so don’t worry about losing too much progress.

Alternately, you can simply leave the game and it will save automatically. But if you’re a worrier like I am and want to make absolutely sure you’ve saved, there’s no harm in just doing it manually, otherwise you might end up with a new survivor and having to tame those dinosaurs all over again.

How to save in multiplayer in ARK Survival Ascended

This question has two answers depending on what kind of server you’re playing on. If you’ve created your own personal server for you and your friends to play on, then it’s fairly similar to single player. Only the host can save the game, and it will save automatically when the host leaves the server, as this will close it down until it’s reopened by the same person. Other players on the server are unfortunately unable to save the game themselves.

If you’re playing on dedicated servers that you haven’t set up yourself, then unfortunately there is no way for you to save the game, as it will be running indefinitely. These are typically public servers, where players can drop in and out as they please. So if you’re worried about losing everything you worked for, you might want to avoid these servers as there’s no way to save what you’ve already done.
