The heavily anticipated ARK Survival Ascended is now available to play on Xbox consoles. It is terrific for fans of the series, and it is a great experience for players who want the thrill of fighting and riding dinos. Following its release, some ARK Survival Ascended newcomers want to know how to change to first-person view from third-person. This is possible for new players on Xbox, it’s just only slightly more complicated than the press of a singular button.

Everyone on Xbox Series X/S can now download ARK Survival Ascended. It is not on Xbox Game Pass for the time being, but there are still some new November 2023 games remaining. ASA is only in early access right now, and there is crossplay and cross-platform multiplayer between Xbox, PC, and PS5 when it eventually lands on Sony’s console. What’s even better about the crossplay is that it comes with cross-platform mods.

While the adventure is epic and grand, one of the first things you need to know is how to change perspective.

How to get first-person view in ARK Survival Ascended

All you need to do to change from third person to first person in ARK Survival Ascended is hold down the select button on your Xbox controller. This is the button with the two windows. Once you have done that, you should see a radial wheel pop up. Simply use the right analog stick to move to the ‘toggle third-person’ option and then release the analog stick. And that’s basically it. If you want to change back to third-person, just simply repeat the process.

As for whether you should play in third or first-person is entirely subjective. Some have complained on Steam that the first-person viewpoint is too low, but some simply prefer it to third. First is possibly better at immersing you in all of the Unreal Engine 5 visuals and physics, but third is probably the superior option overall as it allows you to see everything along with your created character rather than just their arm and weapon. Regardless of your preferred point-of-view, remember that you can change FOV in the game’s settings.

In other ARK news, the release date for ARK 2 has been delayed to the end of 2024. This is the long-awaited sequel starring Vin Diesel as revealed in the first trailer.
