The Signal 50 is a weapon featured in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2022). It is one of the Sniper Rifles available in the game. The Signal 50 is an extremely potent weapon, but you should balance it out with some mid-close range diversity unless you’re totally dedicated to the sniper role for every round. The rifle does come with a variable zoom scope, so there is that. From our time with it, the rifle performs along similar lines to heavy-duty snipers in previous COD entries – devastating power but a slow rate of fire and reload speed.

When wielding the Signal 50, you’ll want to find defended spots to set up in as soon as possible. You can truly benefit from this tool by having a good understanding of maps and having access to lines of sight. Move around and look for new places to fire from without fear. Camping can only get you so far, as determined enemies will be able to pinpoint your whereabouts thanks to heartbeat monitors.

Overview

Signal 50 is a high-powered sniper rifle, perfect for long-distance encounters. It’s very effective in modes that feature larger maps, such as Invasion. This particular rifle comes with 50-calibre rounds along with a semi-automatic firing mechanism that’s surprisingly easy to control in the heat of battle. While it excels when adopting a passive style of play, attempting to quick-scope an oncoming opponent is difficult due to the slow aim-down sight time and sprint-to-fire speed.

Signal 50 is an incredibly strong sniper in Modern Warfare 2. Its immense power, along with its ease of use, allows you to hold down a lane or a tighter angle with ease. At the moment, it’s the best long-range weapon to use at some distance.

Design

The design of the Signal 50 is based on a real-life SERO Gepard GM6 Lynx. The GM6 is part of the Gepárd anti-materiel rifle family of Hungarian weapons. Sero International designed this weapon to destroy unarmored and lightly armored targets. These long-range large-caliber rifles have high accuracy and muzzle velocity.

Stats of the Signal 50

The Signal 50 is a sniper rifle featured in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II that is designed for long-range precision shooting. Sniper Rifles excel at long range, where the high power, accuracy, and zoom given by the attached scope allow players to kill enemies at ranges other weapons would be unable to do. Sniper rifles do not perform well at close range, as they have very low hip fire accuracy, long ADS times, and little peripheral vision.

Fire Rate

This sniper rifle rate of fire is good. The Signal 50 shares the same firecap as the other sniper rifles, being able to shoot up to, but not exceeding, 1200 RPM. This rate of fire is highly flexible thanks to the semi-automatic configuration; players with good trigger fingers can fire as fast as they want or choose their optimal fire rate accordingly.

Damage

The Signal 50 is a moderately damaged sniper rifle. It will deal flat high damage at any range and has multipliers on the upper chest and head regions, allowing the Signal 50 to get a one-hit kill to the chest up. Because of its very high damage, firing rapidly with this gun is not usually necessary, although it can be used as a last resort in close quarters.

Accuracy

In terms of accuracy, the Signal 50’s is quite good. It uses a scope with the same reticule as other sniper rifles. They also tend to have higher accuracy when aiming down the sights due to their attached scope.

Handling

The Signal 50’s handling traits are fairly poor for a sniper rifle. The Signal 50 has agonizingly slow switch speeds for a sniper rifle, taking a few seconds to raise and drop the weapon when switching to or from the secondary weapon, and it has the slowest quick raise and quick drop speeds as well.

Recoil

It has very high recoil, but it always travels in the same direction, and the reticle quickly resets back on the initial point of aim. A good way to compensate for its high recoil is to treat it as a bolt-action rifle. In addition, going prone with a sniper rifle in Modern Warfare 2 has the massive benefit of reducing recoil to almost negligent amounts, allowing for rapid follow-up shots on any rifle,

Reload Speed

Its reload speed is quite slow for a sniper rifle, taking at least 2.5 seconds to reload the weapon.

How To Unlock The Signal 50

Rather than having to use a different gun to unlock a new weapon receiver, the process of unlocking the Signal 50 is very straightforward.

The Signal 50 is unlocked by simply reaching level 20 in the Modern Warfare 2 beta. Play matches, complete objectives, and get kills to gain XP and reach level 20!

From then on, you’ll be able to equip and use the Signal 50, but it’s unclear if the sniper is part of a weapon progression tree, and if it is, you’ll have to master it in order to access other weapons in the arsenal.

Weapons Platform

Currently, some weapon platforms still consist of only one weapon, such as the Signal 50. There is no specific weapon platform mentioned for Signal 50.

Attachments

In the Modern Warfare 2 beta, the Signal 50 has no attachments that can be unlocked or manually equipped. However, it does come pre-built with a variable zoom scope.

If you’re looking to try the Signal 50 with attachments, it appears the only way is to select the default ‘Lone Survivor-Sentinel’ loadout during matches; here, it’s enhanced with four attachments on the sniper, including an extended magazine.

Without attachments, it’s difficult to fully lean into one distinct playstyle for the Signal 50 during the beta. You’re still free to customise your own personal playstyle, however, thanks to a choice of perks and equipment to best accompany the Signal 50 sniper.

Blueprints

Currently, no blueprints are available for the Signal 50 Sniper Rifle, and will be listed once the game officially launches. The only available blueprints featured in the game so far were the Frontal Impact and Side Impact Blueprint.

Bugs

In week two of the beta, snipers are out in full force thanks to a game-changing Modern Warfare 2 flaw that allows players with scopes to see through smoke.

Players on all platforms are participating in the Modern Warfare 2 Beta, which is currently in its final week. While there were some flaws with the initial PlayStation-only test, some of which developers have already tried to fix, it seems that more are already cropping up in week two.

There is a potential that this fresh incidence of the bug will be patched before launch given that Modern Warfare 2 is only recently out of Beta. However, considering the history of the series, it’s conceivable that it takes some time to correct.

Signal 50 Perks

  • Overkill is the first base perk.
  • Tracker is the second base perk.
  • Focus/Resupply/Fast Hands are additional benefits.
  • Ultimate Perk: Ghost/High Alert

Overkill

Overkill allows you to take a second primary weapon, providing backup should you have to move locations or fend off oncoming enemies.

Tracker

The Tracker is great for stealthy playstyles—enemies leave behind a footprint trail, whilst your kill markers are hidden from the enemy team.

Focus

For your bonus perk, there are a few good picks-our initial shout would be Focus, reducing your aim down sights (ADS) flinch and extending the hold breath duration of your sniper.

Resupply

Resupply lets you spawn with an additional lethal grenade—great for setting up stronger defences—and makes it so your equipment recharges after 25 seconds, providing an endless supply of lethal and tactical grenades.

Fast Hands

Fast Hands, on the other hand—no pun intended—reduces weapon swap times, rather noticeable for the Signal 50 considering its hefty weight, and a bonus with Overkill.

Ghost

When it comes to your ‘Ultimate Perk’, Ghost is a great pick if stealth is your preference, since it’ll hide you from enemy UAVs, portable radars, and heartbeat sensors, allowing you to keep a low profile.

High Alert

Alternatively, if you’re looking to stay aware, High Alert is what you want, alerting you on screen when spotted by an enemy.

Equipment for Signal 50

  • Lethal: Claymore
  • Tactical: Decoy Grenade/Smoke Grenade

Claymore

The Claymore is a solid pick for its proximity-based detonation; it doesn’t unlock until level 27, however, so we recommend using the Proximity Mine until then.

Smoke Grenade

Smoke Grenades are a good pick here, particularly for invasion, creating a cloud of smoke that’ll help cover your approach.

Signal 50 Field Upgrades

  • Portable Radar
  • Tactical Insertion

Portable Radar

As for the field upgrade, you can’t go wrong with a portable radar at your position to keep an eye out for any incoming opponents.

Tactical Insertion

The Tactical Insertion is handy to have-especially for larger modes since it allows you to mark a location for where you’ll next spawn, perfect if you’ve found an effective sniper’s nest.

Signal 50 Alternatives

If you find that the Signal 50 doesn’t quite cut it for you, then there is another option for you to try out, such as LM-S. The LM-S’s semi-automatic characteristics and this high damage per bullet make it quite powerful while retaining a good amount of versatility in terms of accuracy and fire rate. The LM-S has high bullet penetration power, allowing the gun to deal heavy damage through most walls, although it is much less likely to get one-shot kills.
