There is a lot to look forward to for fans of Helldivers 2. Currently, Arrowhead are “locked in for a busy month” as they attempt to eradicate as many as bugs possible for the imminent release on Xbox consoles. As for the future, the studio has briefly discussed their intentions away from HD2. Arrowhead’s CEO has previously said the studio’s next game will be “100% funded” by themselves, and now the CEO has shared that their next game won’t repeat a “baaaaad” mistake made with Helldivers 2.
Arrowhead’s next game won’t repeat “baaaaad” Helldivers 2 mistake
On Discord, Arrowhead CEO, Shams Jorjani, was asked if it’s true Arrowhead have “enough capital to fund their own next game”. The user also asked, “what lessons have you and your team learned from the dev and release of such a big hit as hd2”.
Jorjani responded that Arrowhead have learned “Lots” from HD2. As for a specific lesson, Jorjani said that they learned they should “start preproduction with a small team”. This is because “HD2 started with a big team and that was baaaaad,” as spotted by Gamesradar.

In addition to the above quote, back in May, Jorjani said that Arrowhead’s “next game is 100% funded by ourselves”. This means Arrowhead will be able to “call 100% of shots,” such as what regions the game is available to play.

The Arrowhead CEO also thanked the HD2 community, saying, “the wonderful thing is that thanks to the amazing support of you FINE people, Arrowhead’s future is quite bright and we have the freedom to explore some really cool concepts that we couldn’t have otherwise”. Jorjani also said, “Game 6 (our next project) will happen the way it will happen thanks to you”.
Lastly, while unable to share specific details, the CEO shared that “a very, very small team will spin up something later this year and go at it slowly”. He also said “PlayStation are great partners,” and that Arrowhead is “open to working with them again in the future”.

If you’re at all worried about the future of Helldivers 2, you needn’t be as Jorjani promised “Helldivers is our [Arrowhead’s] main focus and will be for a loooong time”. As for Helldivers 3, CCO, Pilestedt, has previously said HD2 is “growing into Helldivers 3” through years of updates.
