A former employee at Chinese outsourcing studio Virtuos has revealed that he worked on Just Cause 3 earlier this year.

According to his LinkedIn profile the employee left the studio in March 2014, having allegedly worked on Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes, Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain and Just Cause 3.

Virtuos is often used by publishers and developers to collaborate on development of major titles. The firm was hired by Square Enix earlier this year to create the PS3 and PS Vita versions of Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster.

Just Cause 3 has yet to be formally announced by Avalanche despite persistent rumours suggesting that the game could be in development.

Last year, the LinkedIn profile of Avalanche Studios boss Christofer Sundberg stated that the studio was working on an “unannounced sandbox action game… in a very well-known game series” for Square Enix, presumed to be Just cause 3. He added that the title was “scheduled for completion in June 2015 for next generation console platforms”.

Mad Max’s delay, however, which Sundberg said was “scheduled for release in April 2014” could have had a domino effect on Just Cause 3’s development.

Earlier this summer, Avalanche teased that it has “several surprises planned” for 2015, with the year “set to be the biggest year since the inception of Avalanche Studios more than a decade ago”.
