Pals are creatures that inhabit Palpagos Island in Palworld. These creatures come in all shapes and sizes as well as different types. Each Pal can learn active skills that act as battle moves. Pals can sometimes have passive traits that enhance their abilities.

Throughout Palworld, you will use Pal Spheres to capture and tame Pals. Pals can then be used in battle and to complete work around your base.

Pal Interactions

You can interact with your Pals in multiple ways. Interacting with a Pal is done by pressing the 4 key on your keyboard or pressing the right stick on your controller. Holding down the F key or the X button will activate a Pal's partner skill. Pals can be interacted with in the following ways:

  • Pet - Petting a Pal increases its happiness and helps avoid depression.
  • Feed - Manually feed your Pal. This can also be done via a feed box or food pouch.
  • Pick up - Pick up your Pal and assign them to a job around your base.
  • Partner Skill - Activate your Pal's partner skill. Each Pal has a different Partner Skill with some being used as mounts while others can be used to deal damage. If a Pal's Partner Skill is unavailable, it will need to be unlocked via an accessory built at a workbench.

Pal Uses

Pals are used for completing jobs around your base and battling. After capturing a Pal, you can assign it to your base via the Palbox or add it to your party. Your party can consist of a maximum of five Pals at one time.

While at camp, Pals will work on various jobs that fit within their work suitability category. While in your party, Pals can be used to battle other Pals, assist in boss fights, and be used to help around camp when released. You may only have one Pal from your party out at one time unless otherwise stated by a Pal accessory or Partner Skill.

Pal Variations and Types

Every Pal has at least one type with some Pals having a dual-type meaning they have two types instead of one. A Pal's type determines its strengths and weaknesses in battle. The following Pal types are in Palworld:

  • Fire
  • Water
  • Grass
  • Ground
  • Electric
  • Ice
  • Dragon
  • Dark
  • Neutral

Depending on a Pal's type, it will be stronger or weaker than other Pals with different types. The type advantage is as follows:

  • Fire > Grass & Ice
  • Grass > Ground
  • Ground > Electric
  • Electric > Water
  • Water > Fire
  • Ice > Dragon
  • Dragon > Dark
  • Dark > Neutral

Along with typing, there are multiple Pal variations found across Palpagos Island. These variations consist of special Pals that are rare to find or must be found in specific locations. The following variations of Pals are in Palworld:

  • Lucky Pals - Lucky Pals are a shiny variant of normal Pals that sparkle. A captured Lucky Pal has the Lucky passive ability that increases its attack damage and work speed.
  • Alpha Pals - Alpha Pals are world bosses that can be found wandering Palpagos Island. These Pals are larger and typically have more health than their standard counterparts.
  • Subspecies Pals - Subspecies Pals are Pals of a different typing than their standard variant. These include Pals such as Relaxauraus Lux which is an electric/dragon variant of the standard Relaxauraus Pal. These Pals can also be bred by combining their normal variant with a Pal of the subspecies typing.

Pal World Suitability

Work Suitability is a set of skills that a Pal has that dictates what jobs they can perform around camp. These jobs include crafting, transporting goods, gathering materials, and more. The following Work Suitabilities are in Palworld:

  • Kindling - Allows a Pal to smelt ore, cook food, and light fires
  • Planting - Allows a Pal to plant seeds in your gardens
  • Handiwork - Allows a Pal to aid in crafting items, use a production assembly line, and build structures
  • Lumbering - Allows a Pal to chop down trees for wood. Also allows the use of a lumber yard at your base
  • Medicine Production - Allows a Pal to assist in creating medicine to cure diseases
  • Transporting - Allows a Pal to transport goods dropped on the ground to storage containers
  • Watering - Allows a Pal to water plants in your garden. Can also be used to create Paldium Fragments using the grinder and Flour using the mill
  • Generating Electricity - Allows a Pal to generate and store electricity at your base
  • Gathering - Allows a Pal to harvest crops from your gardens
  • Mining - Allows a Pal to mine for minerals such as stone, ore, sulfur, and coal. Also allows the use of the Stone Pit in your base
  • Cooling - Allows a Pal to cool down food and keep it fresh using the cooler box or refrigerator
  • Farming - Allows a Pal to graze at your ranch, getting you items based on the Pal inside

Pals can be assigned jobs at your base based on the work suitabilities they have. Picking up a Pal and throwing it at a specific structure will assign it to that job. If a job is not available, the Pal will choose the job closest to it that needs to be completed. Over time, a Pal's SAN or Sanity will decrease. This will cause the Pal to become less efficient and slack off more frequently. Items such as the Pal Bed and Hot Springs will help raise a Pal's SAN and make them more productive.
