Looking for the best new gaming speakers for your gaming PC? You’re in the right place.

If you’re a gamer, most likely you’re going to want to have a nice pair of speakers for your setup, especially if you’re going for the immersive experience. It has to be said, that built-in gaming laptop speakers are usually pretty ineffective and trawling Amazon for the right ones could take an unprecedented amount of time. What’s more, its very common for even the best gaming monitors on the market to not come with any speakers built-in at all.

Of course, lots of people will lean towards buying one of the best headphones or the best PC gaming headsets instead. While that might suffice, wearing headphones for long gaming sessions can be fatiguing.

On the other hand, when buying audio equipment, it’s quite easy to get lost in all the jargon and the vast amounts of options to go for. Well, we’ve been busy researching the best gaming speakers you can get at the moment, and listed them here. We’ve kept in mind important factors including, of course, sound quality, power connection and value for money, so there should be something for everyone on this list.

Let’s get straight in.

Pros
  • Amazing sound
  • Sleek design
  • DTS:X Ultra positional sound placement
Cons
  • DTS:X Ultra not compatible with Mac

We kick off our selection with an incredible speaker set from one of the most well-known brands in the game; Logitech’s G560 Speaker System combines amazing sound with some exceptionally sleek design, providing a captivating experience for any gamer at a reasonable price tag.

Using the DTS:X Ultra surround sound system, you’ll be able to enjoy a fully 3D audio experience using positional sound placement. This means that you can more easily identify which area noises like gunshots and screams are coming from, creating an even more immersive experience!

One of the most unique features of the G560 is the fact that it uses RGB lighting to deliver dynamic lightshows to gamers. It achieves this by using Lightsync Technology, which is compatible with many popular games, and is managed using patterns based on interpreted audiowaves.

However, you can use the included Logitech Family Software to manage the four speaker lighting zones, tailoring them to your preference. And you’re not going to be short on options either, since the lights are capable of displaying a breathtaking 16.8 million colors!

The G560 set is compatible with both standard Windows gaming PC’s, as well as Bluetooth-enabled devices such as smartphones and tablets. However, it’s worth noting that the DTS:X Ultra Surround system is not Mac OS X compatible.

This is a really amazing option for gamers looking to step up their experience with realistic surround sound, and the price its currently retailing for makes it an absolute steal. If you want to experience next-gen audio, check out the G560 from Logitech today!

Pros
  • Superb, comprehensive sound quality
  • Control console and wireless remote included
  • Multiple audio inputs
Cons
  • Quite expensive

For those of you looking for a somewhat more professional option, we have another fantastic Logitech product. This time we’re looking at the Z906, a 5.1 surround sound speaker system with four wall-mountable satellites.

Using a 165 watt subwoofer, the system combines Dolby Digital and DTS technology to provide a level of audio clarity you might never have experienced before.  It achieves this using four wall-mountable 67 watt satellites. Each of them will deliver accurate positional audio, making it ideal for tense games like the upcoming Counter-Strike 2, requiring fast reflexes.

Throughout its operation, it will deliver 500 watts of power. However, at peak moments, it can double this to 1,000 watts, meaning that sounds existing at any point on the spectrum (whether a low growl, sudden thunderstrike, or beautiful soundtrack) can be delivered in exceptional sound quality.

The Z906 system also comes with its own compact control console and wireless remote, which will make it easy for you to tailor its performance to your own preferences without needing to get out of your gaming chair

One really nice feature of this setup is the fact that you can seamlessly switch between a multitude of audio inputs; this means you can combine a 3.5mm headphone input with RCA, digital coaxial or optical inputs, all the while maintaining an impressively low signal to noise ratio of >95dB.

This really is a step up in audio quality which will equally suit hardcore gamers and audiophiles alike, so we definitely recommend it for those of you who enjoy listening to music in lossless formats as much as you enjoy gaming itself. We thoroughly recommend it to anyone considering a 5.1 gaming system setup!

Best budget gaming speakers – Creative Pebble Plus

2.1 USB-A

Pros
  • Impressive bass output
  • Dynamic and immersive positional audio
  • USB-powered setup is more organised
Cons
  • Loud and clear, but not quite hi-res

Last, but certainly not least, we wanted to share this wonderfully designed speaker set which can be picked up for less than $50. While it might lack the bells and whistles of its more expensive counterparts, the Creative Pebble Plus still packs more than enough punch for those of you seeking great gaming speakers on a budget.

What we weren’t really expecting when we first looked at this setup was a powerful subwoofer. Then, we found out that it has a 4” down-firing ported woofer which is capable of delivering some fairly thunderous bass at a very reasonable price.

It also combines two mid-range drivers at an elevation of 45 degrees, meaning that the sound delivered is angled towards the recipient. Even without full surround sound, you’ll still be able to enjoy a dynamic audio experience with intelligently delivered positional audio.

And, for those moments when you need a little more bang for your buck, the high gain mode allows you to significantly increase the output power to 8 watts for even thicker basslines which will reverberate through your home! (This requires a 5V 2A USB adapter which is not included in the price).

If the standard setup is enough for you though, the fact that the system is USB-powered allows you to enjoy a less cluttered setup. Plus, it’s compatible with a simple 3.5mm AUX-in cable, meaning you can just as easily attach it to your smartphone or tablet when you really want great sound quality for your music and browsing sessions.

Although it’s far from the most impressive audio system on the market, the Creative Pebble Plus does do a fantastic job of providing a premium audio experience at a budget, and we’d definitely recommend it to any cash-strapped gamers out there who still want to have loud and clear gaming sessions.

How we choose the best gaming speakers

Connectivity

Having great connectivity is one of the most important features for us to consider. Bluetooth is useful, though we’re going to suggest that you prioritise a wired connection if possible.

Sound Quality

Perhaps the most important aspect – how a speaker sounds is key to choosing the best gaming speakers.

Music and sound effects are a key part to gaming, so ensuring that a speaker meets our sound quality expectations is key. This can be evaluated by a speaker’s frequency response, and how wide it is. This is usually measured in Hz or KHz. This affects pitch and tone, without detracting from quality. The best range is between 50Hz and 20KHz.

Best gaming speaker FAQs

Which is better: DTS or Dolby Digital?

On paper, DTS beats Dolby with higher bit-rates, delivering an experience more geared towards the cinematic side of things. That said, Dolby boasts better specs in signal-to-noise ratio and speaker calibration, which is more noticeable when it comes to listening to music, so it’s really down to your taste. Impressively, the Logitech Z906 Speaker System combines both technologies for the best of both.

What should I look for in a gaming speaker?

Large drivers are a great indicator of quality and are worth looking for. You actually don’t need lots of speakers – you can find dual-speaker models with excellent sound results. A subwoofer adds bass to setups, but not every gamer will see it as a necessity.
