Gran Turismo 7 have just released their heavily anticipated PSVR 2 patch, and though the headset isn’t available until February 22nd, figuring out if you can use a racing wheel with Gran Turismo 7 on PSVR 2 is at the fore-front of everyone’s minds.

The free update to the game adds in support for the PSVR 2 headset, and players will be able to enjoy the game in all game modes using VR. Unfortunately, split screen hasn’t received this capability, likely to due to rendering limitations on the console and headset. If VR capabilities have extended to all but one features of the game, can we expect racing wheels to work with the game?

We’ve covered the best racing wheels for Forza and Need for Speed: Unbound, so if you’re struggling to choose a racing wheel, we might suggest you check those pages out. In the meantime, let’s get to the bottom of the question.

Gran Turismo 7 racing wheel compatibility with PSVR 2

We’ve already had a look at a few relevant questions, namely, can you use your PSVR controllers with PSVR 2 and can you play PS5 games with PSVR 2. While you can’t use PSVR controllers with PSVR 2, this should hopefully not pose an issue with Gran Turismo 7.

Racing wheels are designed to simulate the control input ordinarily used on the console. This means that your racing wheel is essentially a fancy PS5 controllers, with all the same buttons and inputs, just different physical methods of interacting with them. For example, while you might have an analogue stick on your DualSense controller, the racing wheel will instead have a, as you expected, wheel.

So, essentially, you can use a racing wheel with Gran Turismo 7 on PSVR 2.
