We’re having a look at the Razer Blade 14 vs ASUS G14 to see which of these 14-inch gaming laptops is best for you.

ASUS and Razer are both known for making some of the most powerful gaming laptops out there. We’re having a look at two of their best 14-inch options. The Razer Blade 14 comes in two variations, each of which balances price and performance slightly differently while boasting powerful gaming ability packaged in a sleek, compact, and portable device.

Much of the same can be said about the ASUS G14. Being one of the best ASUS gaming laptops, it too comes in different versions but is consistently high-performance. Likewise, it seeks to balance this impressive gaming performance with portability and a slim design.

So let’s get into what sets these two laptops are apart from one another. To make things simple we’ve broken our comparison down into different sections. This should give you an overview of both devices and help you find out which one makes more sense for you.

As you can see, it is hard to compare these laptops on a like-for-like basis, as both the Razer Blade 14 and ASUS G14 are a range of devices. That said, there are things that hold true across all the different versions of each device as well as insight to be gained from looking at the specific options each laptop offers. Let’s get into it.

The one thing that is true for both devices across the board is their 14 inch display size. This is a key part of why they are so useful to compare. 14 inches is on the smaller side of displays but this is one of the key strengths. If size and portability are of primary concern for you, a 14 inch laptop is perfect.

Both the Blade and the G14 come in lower and higher resolution options. However, Razer is superior overall here with a 1440p and a 2560 x 1600p version. The G14 meanwhile maxes out at 1440p, with the more affordable option being 1080p. This might not make either of these the best 4k gaming laptops, however, on such a small display size the benefits of 4K are hardly noticeable.

When it comes to GPUs and CPUs again there is a variety offered by both laptops but, again, the most powerful ones available in either laptop are in the more premium versions of the Razer Blade 14.

Razer Blade 14 vs ASUS G14 – features

Both of these powerful laptops are packed to the teeth with gaming features and optimisations that put these powerful specs to the best use. Let’s start with the G14 which is great for gaming. This AMD laptop it features a range of smart gaming features such as SmartShift Max. This significantly boosts performance and intelligently decides when to do so. This means that you can get the boost you need at the right time.

There’s also AMD Smart Access Memory. This technology allows the processor to communicate with complete efficiency with the graphics card, which is made possible thanks to the laptop featuring consistent AMD components. This means everything works within the same ecosystem and is optimised to communicate with other devices.

The Razer Blade 14 also has a range of useful features. One which most directly affects performance is the expandable DDR5 memory. This means you have the option to increase memory and improve performance yourself, as and when you need it. It also has a very effective vapour chamber cooling system which allows the Blade 14 to run quietly even when at high performance.

Razer Blade 14 vs ASUS G14 – design

Both these laptops don’t just focus on sheer gaming performance, they also want to make sure it is being provided in a durable, slim and portable device. Measuring in with 14 inch screens this focus on portability makes a lot of sense.

The G14 has a remarkably compact chassis and is matched with a sleek thin profile and durable body. This body is a mix of aluminium and magnesium alloy which avoids excessive flex and cannot be easily scratched or blemished.

The Blade 14 is Razer’s most portable laptop. It is an impressive 0.7 inches thin and comes with a weight of just 4lbs. The chassis is equally impressive. Razer explains that each body is milled precisely from a single block of aluminium. This approach achieves a superior strength-to-weight ratio

Razer Blade 14 vs ASUS G14 – price

There’s no point in having the best gaming laptop of all time if it is being sold for the wrong price. We’ve seen that these are two similarly high performance 14 inch laptops, with the Razer edging performance. Let’s have a look at how that impacts price.

There are two versions of the Razer Blade 14, one with higher performance specs. For the version with Ryzen 9 7940HS and a 240Hz display costs $2,399. The Ryzen 9 6900Hz and 165Hz versions will set you back $1,799.

Both of these are more expensive than the most affordable G14 laptop. This costs $1,599 and features a Ryzen 9 CPU and 512GB of storage. The more premium option costs $1,999 and features a 144Hz 1440p display and an RX 6800S chip.

Overall the ASUS G14 is cheaper though you won’t see either of these laptops on any list of the best gaming laptops under $1000. Though, in return for your investment you do get high performance.
