At the moment, a DJI Mini 4 release date doesn’t exist. This is partly due to the drone having not being announced just yet. However, thankfully, it seems as though the people working on the DJI Mini 4 are pretty keen to share details on the drone.
With leaked ‘rendered designs’ floating around, there’s little reason to believe it’s not on the way soon. However, of course, these ‘leaks’ are impossible to verify, so until we hear some actual confirmation that a release date is incoming, the ‘DJI Mini 4 release date’ will remain as speculation.
The DJI Mini 4 will likely be their next drone after the DJI Mini 3 Pro, so when could hear about a release date? To further complicate the mix – there’s also been recent news about a DJI Mini 4 Pro, further complicating things with the possible launch of the industry leading drone.
DJI Mini 4 release date speculation
The DJI Mini 4 is a very highly anticipated drone, with some saying it’s the most anticipated drone at the moment. Its predecessors have been hugely popular, but many have been saving up for the next release. Thankfully the drone community are particularly eagle-eyed, so any snippets of information on this drone get sapped up pretty quick.
For example, the following forum thread exhibits just how much attention this drone is getting. Some people are speculating “DJI will release a new DJI Air 3 before a new Mini 4 comes out,” which doesn’t bode well for many excited to upgrade. This rumour is empowered by these DJI release predictions for 2023 that suggest that the DJI Mini 4 won’t release this year at all.
For example, the DJI Mini 3 was launched in May 2022, while the DJI Mini 2 and DJI Mavic Mini launched in November 2020 and October 2019 respectively.
With all of the above in mind – we’re going to predict that the DJI Mini 4 release date isn’t going to be confirmed for a while. We do expect it to launch in 2024 at the very latest, though we’re not going to rule out 2023 completely.
DJI Mini 4 Pro release date speculation
Recent leaks from drone enthusiast Jasper Ellens of the DJI Flight Club seem so suggest that a DJI Mini 4 Pro is in the works.
While it’s not particularly clear if this drone is the real deal, Jasper Ellens is a fairly reputable leaker with a strong history of predictions and leaks.
However, there’s not really much to go off regarding a release date. If it is going to release, it’s unlikely to arrive before the DJI Mini 4 itself.
DJI Mini 4 flight mode speculation
DJI drones often come with a few different flight modes including : beginner, position, ATTI, and tripod. We imagine that we’re going to see many, if not all, of these standard flight modes included. However, DJI also have their own set of Intelligent Flight Modes that have featured in many of their flagship drones. This has included a Hyperlapse mode, QuickShots, ActiveTrack and Point of Interest.
We think it’s likely that many of these useful features will return for the DJI Mini 4, if it ever releases.
DJI Mini 4 Active Track
One of the aforementioned flight modes – Active Track – is likely to be a key feature in DJI’s next flagship drone. This features allows the drone to track the user, and circulate a point of interest around the moving controller. This feature is going to be fantastic for videographers who need to film themselves, while also mixing in high point aerial photography. Effectively what you would call ‘autopilot’ this feature could relinquish control from the user entirely, making it all the more useful and creative.
DJI Mini 4 price predictions
Recent DJI Mini prices will be important for us trying to predict the cost of the DJI Mini 4. We’ve listed the previous MSRPs of flagship drones in order to predict how much we think the DJI Mini 4 is going to cost:
- DJI Mini 3 – $469
- DJI Mini 2 – $449
- DJI Mini – $399
In light of the above prices, we imagine that the DJI Mini 4 is going to be costing upwards of $469, with the price and cost of living only increasing in recent years. We could even see it surge over $500, depending on how the manufacturers feel.
This doesn’t even include the added costs of controllers and other accessories, so expect to fork out a lot for the DJI Mini 4’s price.
Is a DJI Mini 4 even going to be released?
At the moment, we’ve heard nothing from DJI surrounding the Mini 4. From the looks of things, we’re not going to hear anything anytime soon anyway, but we’re not going to rule anything out either. If DJI announce anything relevant – we’ll be sure to update you.
Make sure to check back in with us periodically for the latest updates on the DJI Mini 4.
