If you have brought a current-gen GPU in the last few years, you’ll want to know if there is a ray tracing option coming to Diablo 4.

Due for launch on June 6th, or June 2nd if you checked out our Diablo 4 preorder guide and opted for the Deluxe or Ultimate Edition, many gamers are understandably disappointed that Blizzard announced that ray tracing would not supported at launch. According to an official blog post, Blizzard said: “During both the Open Beta and at launch, Diablo IV will not support ray tracing, but this is a feature we plan to add sometime after launch”.

For those unfamiliar, ray tracing involves rendering light including shadows, reflections ambient occlusion and more. Diablo 4 is already a stunning game, though but ray tracing would arguably make the game’s graphics even more impressive so long as you’ve got the best GPU for Diablo 4. While Blizzard’s announcement confirms that we can expect ray tracing in the near future, they’ve given us no clues as to when we might get it. For anyone rocking a 40-series Nvidia GPU, Diablo 4 is also supporting DLSS 3.0 at launch which is great news for when ray tracing support finally arrives.

When will Diablo 4 get ray tracing support?

Blizzard so far has given us no official clues as to when we might expect ray tracing support to drop for PC and console. We’re hoping it won’t be long though. After all, Blizzard has a partnership with Nvidia and their advanced ray tracing GPUs, so we can only hope they’re trying to get ray tracing support implemented as soon as possible. If you’re keen to enable ray tracing once it becomes available for Diablo 4, it’ll be worth checking the best graphics settings for Diablo 4 to make sure your PC build can handle it. You might also enjoy checking out the best GPUs for ray tracing if your build is due an upgrade.

We’ll be updating this page as soon as we hear news from Blizzard for ray tracing support. In the meantime, check out this Secretlab Diablo 4 gaming chair you can pre-order, or else hang on until June 6th!
