We’ve been playing the newly released 3D fighter and have come up with ideal settings to suit all machines. Thanks to stunning optimization of Unreal Engine 5 and a wealth of different upscaling options, the fighter isn’t necessarily too taxing on machines either.

Tekken 8 has a wealth of graphics options available from the settings menu including quality presets which are based on your system. The game runs an autoconfiguration as soon as you boot it up where it assigns quality settings to best fit your rig. In our case, we’re using an RTX 4090 GPU paired with an AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D processor, one of the best CPUs for gaming that money can buy. Unsurprisingly then, maxing Tekken 8 out isn’t too hard a task in 1440p or 4K but this isn’t going to be the case for most. people.
If you’re running an RTX graphics card then you’ll be able to take advantage of Nvidia DLSS upscaling which can help you hit the 60fps cap. Since the recommended GPU is either an RTX 2070 or an RX 5700 XT (likely for 1080p) we can infer that a slightly faster more modern equivalent like the RTX 3060 or the RX 6600 XT will be up to the task here. You’re unlikely to be able to run the game in ultra settings but you should be able to find a playable scale of medium to high settings.

Tekken 8 has AMD FSR 2 support which means those running one of the best AMD graphics cards are accommodated as well. Team Red’s upscaling tech is open source, meaning it’ll work well on any GPU including those made by Intel and Nvidia. We recommend playing around with the settings if you notice any form of framerate drops or stuttering when in-game. Speaking of Intel GPUs, those running an Arc video card can benefit from XeSS, however, we were unable to test this ourselves.
For 1440p or 4K, you’re going to want a more powerful GPU than the two recommended by the publisher as these are for 1080p resolution. We recommend opting for something more current-generation such as the RTX 4070 or the RX 7700 XT. Tekken 8 is a beautiful game but not one which is pushing hardware to its limits despite running on Unreal Engine 5.
The levels of upscaling are quite sophisticated. You have the options of balanced, quality, and performance for DLSS, FSR, and XeSS, however, it does not appear as though DLSS 3 or FSR 3 are in use. If you’re struggling with getting Tekken 8 running on your system then we recommend turning down the background quality and the post-processing quality as these are going to be less noticeable when compared to texture quality for the characters and in-game objects. You may also have better success scaling the shadow quality down as well. Be sure to enable either Nvidia DLSS, AMD FSR 2, or Intel XeSS for the smoothest performance possible.
The leap between Tekken 7 and Tekken 8 is truly remarkable but it’s come at a cost.
