Gamescom Opening Night Live just keeps coming with the announcements. It has been revealed that 32 characters will be playable on launch in Tekken 8. Alongside this, a brand-new story-focused mode will be making its way to the game. However, the biggest news from Tekken’s showing is that the game is set to release on January 26, 2024, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Taking to the stage, Katsuhiro Harada unveiled the latest trailer for the game, noting that “of course, Tekken 8 will have the story arc players expect up until now, but this brand-new mode is the story that focuses on you as a player”. Harada continued, “It covers the arcade scene, which is a classical atmosphere that people our generation actually got to experience first-hand but maybe some of the newer gamers haven’t”.

Interestingly Harada also said that this new mode would include new gameplay that would infuse some elements of AI learning. It was then revealed in the new trailer that 32 unique fighters will be available on launch. If you’re itching to see precisely what fighters will be returning, check out every fighter we know so far in our Tekken 8 Character List – all confirmed fighters.
