Is GPT-4 free to use?

To access GPT-4, users will have to subscribe to ChatGPT Plus for premium access to the service. The subscription modal only recently rolled out to the rest of the globe in February, par a few excluded countries.

For such a powerful tool, we’re not surprised that OpenAI has decided to put it behind a paywall. The demand for ChatGPT is huge – it’s actually earned the title of the fastest growing consumer application in history.

Indeed, OpenAI CEO, Sam Altman tweeted on December 6th:

“…We will have to monetize it somehow at some point; the computer costs are eye-watering”.

If you do end up subscribing to ChatGPT Plus, you’ll have the advantage of accessing the service even when the demand is high. In other words, you’ll be able to say goodbye to that “Chat GPT is at capacity right now” message.
