However, there are a few countries where you’re not going to be able to access ChatGPT in due to their respective laws on internet usage. While it’s unlikely that these countries have specifically banned ChatGPT in, it’s likely that those countries have prevented access to many websites not from their own country.

ChatGPT temporarily banned in Italy

In March this year, Italy became the first Western country to temporarily ban the use of ChatGPT. To be specific, it was the Italian Data Protection Watchdog who blocked ChatGPT because of privacy concerns. However, this ban has been lifted recently so ChatGPT can be access in Italy.

We can’t officially say whether or not these countries have banned ChatGPT in particular, or it’s just not available due to their country’s privacy and internet surveillance laws.

If you’ve tried to get onto ChatGPT – you may have encountered an error message saying that ChatGPT is not working, or ChatGPT is at capacity. If this is the case, and you’ve followed our advice on trying to get online, it’s possible that ChatGPT is banned in your country.

This is highly unlikely unless you’re in one of the above mentioned countries, however, you should be able to find out by contacting your ISP (Internet Service Provider).
