When it comes to major console games that have never seen a PC release, Red Dead Redemption is one that usually springs to mind. The Grand Theft Auto series is one of the largest video game franchises in the world, and its Wild West counterpart Red Dead is also an extremely popular series. However, despite most Rockstar Games titles making their way to PC over the years, Red Dead Redemption has always been the exception. But, it looks like that could be about to change as a new leak suggests that Red Dead Redemption could finally be seeing an official PC release after 14 years.

According to @TezFunz2, who is known for leaking information on Rockstar Games titles, it looks like Red Dead Redemption could be coming to PC after a change was made to the Rockstar Games launcher site file. The new updated string that was added reads,

“RDR_ProductPromotion_Intro_Body”: Journey across the sprawling expanses of the American West and Mexico in Red Dead Redemption, and its zombie-horror companion, Undead Nightmare “now playable on PC. “,

“RDR_ProductPromoton_Intro_LongTitle”: “Experience the epic Western adventures that defined a generation. “,

The marketing string is formatted the same as how Rockstar Games promotes Grand Theft Auto 5, indicating that this is to be used on the main body of the launcher where you select the game you want to play.

Red Dead Redemption 1 has famously bypassed the PC ever since its release in 2010, despite many of the games both prior and following its release seeing PC ports, including Grand Theft Auto 4, L.A. Noire, Max Payne 3, Grand Theft Auto 5, and Red Dead Redemption 2. Many players expected it to be ported to PC when the game was ported to PS4 and Nintendo Switch in 2023. It has previously been claimed that Rockstar Games was working on a Red Dead Redemption remaster but the project was shelved following the disappointing reception to Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition.

No more information has been given regarding when Red Dead Redemption will be announced, if the leak is correct, but with it being added to the launcher, it shouldn’t be too long before Rockstar Games makes the announcement, especially as we are heading into the summer which is full of events and presentations, including Summer Games Fest, which showcases what players can expect to see over the coming months and beyond.
