Nintendo’s got some bad news for those waiting for the Collector’s Edition of upcoming RPG sequel Xenoblade Chronicles 3.

As per the official Nintendo store, the edition won’t be ready for the release of the game itself. “Due to unforeseen logistical challenges, we are unable to open pre-orders for the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Collector’s Edition before the game launches on July 29th. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

The collectors edition is an exclusive to the My Nintendo Store, and includes a soft cover concept art book. It also includes a steel case and fancy outer box packaging. To make up for the delay, Nintendo will now open special pre-orders for the Collector’s Edition contents without the game. This means those who want can still get the game on release day, and then get their goodies when they’re ready to pre-order in September.

Nintendo confirmed the game would be shipping two months ahead of schedule back in April. In fact, the game itself was originally announced as launching in September on its reveal. Currently, Nintendo intend to ship out the Collector’s Edition contents around “Autumn 2022.”

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 itself meanwhile will still release on schedule exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on July 29.
