Following a wave of community complaints, XDefiant executive producer Mark Rubin has confirmed when players can expect the sniper nerf patch to arrive. According to their recent X/Twitter post, the game’s dev team will be launching the update the week after next, barring any unforeseen setbacks. Improvements to the game’s hit reg issues and ‘bunny-hopping’ will also be included in the same patch.

Unfortunately, Ubisoft hasn’t stated what changes they plan on introducing to the sniper. Most players are hoping that it’s given a significant flinch and movement penalty to make it less effective at close range or after being fired upon first. Of course, this is mere speculation, but this seems to be the ideal solution that would make it more balanced without completely nerfing it to the ground.

However, Rubin also added in their post that “all of these are subject to change, depending on how the patch does in [testing].” This means it could end up being delayed if the team finds another issue before it gets deployed. Fortunately, this news should at least satisfy most of the player base who have been calling for changes to the sniper since launch.

It’s also worth noting that the sniper nerf and BH update will be released a week after another patch scheduled for release next week. It’s currently unclear what this upcoming update includes, though. However, it’s safe to assume that it will contain a number of bug fixes to improve the game’s overall quality.

The XDefiant development team has been incredibly communicative throughout the game’s launch, with Mark Rubin, in particular, communicating many of Ubisoft’s upcoming changes via their Twitter/X account. So even though the game is currently being plagued by a number of gameplay issues, the plan its team has in place is helping keep XDefiant in the community’s good graces.
