Xbox has announced the next few games coming to the Xbox Game Pass service over the next couple of weeks.

With the announcement coming about a week later than usual, there’s not quite as many games as usual to make note of – but they are three pretty heavy hitters, for those who’ve been waiting for these games to come to the Xbox for the first time.

Let’s take a look what’s on offer on Xbox Game Pass for January 2023.

Xbox Game Pass free games January 2023

A pair of classic Atlus RPGs finally make their way to Xbox consoles for the first time – with both Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden arriving on the service on January 19.

They’ll both be available on Cloud, Console and PC and offer up two entirely different stories in the Persona series. As its name suggests, Portable originally launched on the PSP in 2009, while P4 Golden originally arrived on the PlayStation Vita in 2014.

Both games have had a fresh coat of paint for its Xbox debut, and both games’ arrival comes not long after the launch of Persona 5 on Xbox consoles, meaning Xbox owners can finally play arguably the best three titles in the series in one place.

Then, on January 20 Xbox Game Pass subscribers get another game previously released on other formats – with the debut of Monster Hunter Rise on Cloud, Console and PC.

Originally released for the Nintendo Switch in 2021, followed by a PC version last year, the game is another excellent slice of Monster Hunter action, with some interesting tweaks to the formula.

We really enjoyed it, and you can read our review here. Still to come is expansion Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak – which is set to arrive on Xbox and PlayStation consoles at a later, to be announced date.
