The picture, the source of which engadget are refusing to elucidate on, is claimed to have been snapped at the recently-filmed MTV launch party of Microsoft’s second foray into the world of consoles.

Seen in the image, along with the final console, controller, and (assumedly) Xbox Live headset, is a somewhat more mysterious object. It appears to be the much-rumoured EyeToy-like camera attachment, the uses of which can only be speculated on at this point, although its presence at the console’s launch suggests that it features much more prominently in Microsoft’s plans than the EyeToy features in Sony’s.

If the shot is, indeed, genuine, then the leaked renders and glimpses revealed on Microsoft’s viral marketing ARG, OurColony.net, are, for the most part, true to the final console’s design, and there is also, according to engadget’s source, a hard-drive attachment at the top of the machine. What remains unclear is whether or not the machine will feature interchangeable fascias, but the most recent image revealed at OurConlony.net all but confirms the presence of such a feature.

As always, more news on the matter as soon as we get it.
