Team17 has announced Worms 4, the next game in its 2D-strategy series heading to iOS in August.

Revealed via Pocket Gamer, the new game will feature smaller landscapes, smaller teams and shorter matches, making it a lot more “mobile-friendly”. It’ll also feature an 80-mission single-player campaign, support for local and online multiplayer, and a new faction element that allows two teams to battle it out every 24 hours to earn bonus rewards.

New weapons are being thrown in, too, including Hayley’s Comet and a lucky die, which can each be upgraded via loot earned in-game or – you guessed it – through in-app purchases.

The game will remain a premium mobile title, however, and will not be free-to-play. A price has not yet been revealed.

Worms 4 will debut on iOS next month before heading to “other mobile platforms” at a later date. Want to see what it looks like? Check out Pocket Gamer’s first look at the game below.
