Warzone 2 has finally arrived and veteran players are wondering if their hard work in the original Warzone will carry over with them into the new game.

The original Warzone arrived not long after the release of Modern Warfare (2019) – meaning gamers have had just under three years of updates, progress and battle pass goodies under their belt – as well as store purchases.

Understandably then, you might be wondering what, if anything, comes across into Warzone 2? Here’s the info you need to know.

Will Warzone 2 carry over progress from Warzone 1?

The short answer is, alas, no. As explained on the Call of Duty Blog, “Warzone 2.0’s weapons, progression, and inventory systems will be tied to the new Modern Warfare II content and systems.”

As a result, player progression, cross progression for XP and Double XP, inventories, battle pass content, weapons, store bundles and other purchases from older Call of Duty games will NOT be available in Warzone 2.

What will transfer to Warzone 2?

However, any COD Points you have, are transferrable to the new game, so you will be able to bring over any currency you’ve accumulated and not spent thus far.

In addition, Activision Blizzard did reward “a few items to use in Warzone 2.0” for all players who have previously played Warzone 1. Those specific rewards are highlighted in the Twitter post above curtesy of Charlie Intel, and include a care package weapon charm, weapon XP, and a new knife.

Will Warzone 2 keep skins?

Alas, any skins you’ve earned from Warzone 1 will not transfer into Warzone 2.

However, skins will transfer between Modern Warfare 2, Warzone 2 and Warzone Mobile. So any Operator Skins you may have unlocked either in the Campaign or Multiplayer for MW2 will also be available in Warzone 2.

What will happen to my Warzone 1 progress and items?

Not to worry! All that progress you’ve made will not go to waste. Instead, you’ll be able to access these items in the newly redubbed Warzone Caldera.

Warzone Caldera will essentially be a standalone offering, including the original battle royale Warzone 1 game – you can find out more here.

All your old skins, weapons, progression and everything else will be in here, although this will come a couple of weeks following the launch of Warzone 2, as Raven will first be focused on launching Warzone 2 – with Warzone Caldera launching by the end of November.
