Is The Original Warzone Shutting Down?

Upon the release of Warzone 2, the original Warzone will still co-exist alongside the new battle royal mode as its own separate experience. How much support and or updates the original Warzone will receive once Warzone 2 launches, has not been clarified by AcTivision just yet.

That said, Raven did state that ‘Warzone Season 5 Reloaded’ would be the final major update for the original game mode. With Warzone 2 likely to demand a lot more attention from AcTivision, the original Warzone will likely take a major backseat to the new battle royale mode, which could diminish the enjoyable gaming experience it once offered.

To add to it, Call of Duty did announce that the original Warzone will be called ‘Warzone Caldera‘ come November 16th. This official change indicates that Warzone 2 could eventually become the new and only Warzone. For now, both Warzone modes will be available to play on come November 16th, though each’s experience and engagement will differ drastically.

Original Warzone: No Rebirth & Fortune’s Keep?

The biggest change set to take place for the original Warzone, is the removal of both Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep. Once Warzone 2 launches on November 16th, both mini battle royal game modes will no longer be featured in the original Warzone.

This will greatly impact the attraction of the original Warzone considering how popular both Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep were for the fans.

Call of Duty has not announced or confirmed anything regarding whether these maps will make an appearance on Warzone 2. But with their likely departure from the original Warzone, it certainly begs the question what AcTivision will do with these enjoyable game modes moving forward.
