Developer Fatshark has given a late September release for upcoming co-op action game Warhammer 40,000: Darktide.

The game puts you and up to three other friends in the boots of a squad of Imperial Guardsmen. Set in the hive city of Tertium, you’ll be taking on hordes of enemies brainwashed by the Admonition cult. They’re trying to seize control of the planet Atoma Prime and kill everyone on it, so naturally it’s up to you to stop them.

Fatshark promises us “deep and balanced” gunplay that’ll offer up a mixed of ranged combat and melee action. You’ll get to customise your gear and loadout to suit your playstyle, and unlock more upgrades as you complete missions. There’ll also be plenty of cosmetics to earn too. The game’s basically a follow up to the very popular Warhammer: Vermintide series, but set in a twisted and dark future.

You can check out the new trailer announcing the game’s release date below. The game was originally meant to see the light of day last year, but was delayed to this one to allow the team to “invest in more systems to support the game for some time to come”.

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide arrives on Xbox Series X|S and PC on September 13, 2022.
