A live action Dead Space movie could happen, but only if Visceral felt it to be something really worthwhile, the game’s art director Ian Milham told the BBC.

“We would love to have a live action film and we’ve had a lot of discussion,” said Milham.

The survival horror franchise certainly seems suitable for the motion picture treatment, and has already inspired animated features, Dead Space: Downfall and Dead Space: Aftermath.

However, any move into live action territory, would be made with caution.

“One of the reasons Dead Space still exists and is popular is because we’ve made sure to do everything right,” he explained.

“So we’re doing the same with the film, not just a cheap cash-in but to do something really worthwhile, so we’ll see.”

Capcom’s Resident Evil has successfully transitioned from video game to movie series – even if critics might not agree – but many others have bombed at the box office. If the Dead Space movie is as well produced as the game series then we’d be excited to see it.
