Riot Games has unveiled the new map coming to hero shooter Valorant in its next major content update, which lands later this week.

Lotus will be introduced as part of Episode 6: Revelation, and includes a bunch of new mechanics players will have to deal with when they set foot in this new locale.

The new map is a 3-site map named Lotus and set in India. It’s the ninth map to be added to the game, and includes a few new gameplay features to the shooter.

One of the big things are the rotating doorways – these can be activated by players, and will offer different routes around the key points on the map.

On top of this, the map also features a destructible wall, which can take a certain amount of damage before it collapses. Once it does, a new route between the A Main and A Link areas is revealed.

When Lotus arrives in the game, it’ll also mark a new map rotation along with Patch 6.0 that’ll see the return of Split.

The fan favourite map is coming back with a few changes – to account for the new Agents that have been released since it was last removed from the rotation.

Meanwhile, maps Breeze and Bind will be removed from Competitive and Unrated queues this rotation with no current ETA on their return.

However, Breeze and Bind will still both be available in Spike Rush, custom games and other game modes.

We’ll get more news on that – plus what else is coming in Valorant Patch 6.0 – in a special broadcast from Riot Games taking place on the evening of January 9. That’ll be broadcast on the game’s official Twitch pages.

Valorant Episode 6 Act 1 – entitled Revelation – is set to launch on January 10, 2023 for PC.
