Naughty Dog has just announced on its Twitter account that Uncharted: The Lost Legacy has gone gold. This announcement means that the standalone game, set 6-12 months after the conclusion of Uncharted 4, is now ready to manufacture. In the meantime the developer will now be able to work on any updates that may need to be pushed out for the game’s launch. Or have a beer instead.

It’s already been confirmed that Drake wouldn’t be making a cameo in The Lost Legacy, but the game’s writer and creator Shaun Escayg has previously said that The Lost Legacy may not be the end of the series.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy explores an adventure with Chloe Frazer, also featuring Nadine Ross, a character introduced in Uncharted 4. The story takes place in the Western Ghats against the backdrop of a civil war, with Chloe in search of the Tusk of Ganesh. Whereas the other Uncharted games had focused on historical figures, like Marco Polo and Henry Avery, The Lost Legacy focuses on a region, and the underlying philosophy and culture.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is due to release for PS4 on August 22 in North America, and August 23 in the UK.
