Ubisoft may be set to cancel its free-to-play sports game Roller Champions, after its third season. This is according to Jeff Grubb, of Giant Bomb, who said he had heard this from an anonymous source.

Reading a message from this source, Grubb said (via VGC), “Roller Champions is gonna be cancelled after Season 3.”

The game launched back in May, this year, on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. With a Switch port following in June. It didn’t launch to a glowing reception. It is a three-versus-three competitive multiplayer game, set in a kind of futuristic environment. A bit like Speedball, then, but not as brutally violence.

Previewing the game for VideoGamer, at E3 2019, Louise Blain said:

“With its bright Fortnite-style, Roller Champions is easy on the eyes, and while it’s light on character customisation at the minute, there are already a stack of emotes. Yep, even in complete chaos, there will be time to get a dab (or six) in after you manage to score. This first glimpse is a positive look at what’s to come and a clear indicator that practice is going to be what makes perfect roller skills.”

Ubisoft has yet to comment on the matter of the game’s possible cancellation.
