It’s been known about for some time, but Ubisoft has now officially announced Splinter Cell Essentials for the PSP. The game will arrive in spring 2006 and will let players experience all-new missions starting where Splinter Cell: Double Agent (due on consoles this spring) ends. Players will also get to look into Sam Fisher’s past through flashback missions.

Developed exclusively for the handheld, it has been designed to work well with the PSP’s limited controls and will deliver an experience suited to a handheld platform. Essentials will include exclusive new weapons and gadgets, plus WiFi multiplayer game modes.
