Devolver Digital has dropped a new trailer for monochrome samurai adventure Trek to Yomi.

The video made its appearance during last night’s PlayStation State of Play broadcast. Thanks to the footage, we got a closer look at the game’s story which follows a young swordsman named Hiroki. He made an oath to his dying master that he’d protect his town and the people he loves against all threats, and must voyage between life and death to keep his promise.

Leaning into its roots of classic samurai films, the trailer showcases plenty of bloody side-scrolling combat. In keeping with that cinematic theme, the trailer also introduces the game’s voice cast, including Masayuki Katou, Sarah Emi Bridcutt and Horioshi Shirokuma. You’ll meet all these and more as you embark on your bloody samurai journey.

The game was first announced back in June of last year, followed by an expanded look at gameplay this past December. We’re promised a cinematic presentation, stylish combat, mythic storytelling and a thrilling soundtrack to boot. It’s certainly looking impressive so far.
