The much rumoured motorbike sim from the team behind the Gran Turismo series has officially been announced. The game, titled Tourist Trophy: The Real Riding Simulator, is said to do for motorcycles what Gran Turismo did for motorcars, with unparalleled levels of tweaking and customisation as we have come to expect from the GT series.

The game, which was revealed in Famitsu magazine, will feature bikes from the big boys of the industry, including Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki and Honda, with Polyphony also wanting to include real life helmets and racing suits. Famitsu includes a partial list of bikes that will appear in the game, but I’m sure we can expect plenty more.

  • Honda CBR600RR
  • Honda NSR250R SE
  • Honda CB750F
  • Honda CBR1100XX
  • Yamaha YZF R-1
  • Yamaha MT 01
  • Yamaha TZR 250 SPR
  • Yamaha Grand Majesty 250
  • Kawasaki ZRX1200R
  • Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R
  • Suzuki GSX1400
  • Suzuki Hayabusa
  • Suzuki GSX-R600

The final game will include bikes from Japan and Europe, as well as classic bikes from the 80s. The game will, however, remain in the modern day with 70% of the included bikes from the 90s to present day. So far only two of the tracks to feature in the game have been revealed: Tsukuba and Fuji Raceway. Although these tracks are in Gran Turismo, the game will feature lots of tracks not seen in the GT series.

The game’s controls will be immediately familiar to anyone who has played Gran Turismo, with the Dual Shock’s analogue face buttons being used to control the throttle and break. Unlike in Gran Turismo, an on-screen display will be available to show you exactly how hard you are pressing the buttons. For those that want to play the game with extreme realism there’ll also be an advanced driving set-up where you must also control your rider’s position on the bike, allowing him to achieve top speed.

We will bring you more on the game when we get it.
