Netflix has announced Hayley Atwell will be providing the voice of the iconic Lara Croft in its upcoming Tomb Raider animated series.

The series was originally announced back in January, and will follow the events of the recent ‘survivor’ reboot trilogy. While further specifics are light on the ground, production is a joint effort between Legendary Pictures and Powerhouse Animation. The latter helped out on the recent Castlevania series for Netflix as well as the recent Masters of the Universe: Revelation reboot. A quick look at their Wikipedia page also unveils work on several video games. These include 2010’s Epic Mickey and, more recently, Mortal Kombat X and Saints Row spin-0ff Agents of Mayhem.

Atwell’s best known role is Agent Peggy Carter in the MCU including a short-lived solo series in 2015. The actress is also set to appear in Mission Impossible 7 alongside Tom Cruise next year. In the games that the anime series will follow, Lara is voiced by Camilla Luddington. Meanwhile, her movie counterpart is Alicia Vikander who’s returning for the sequel, though there’s been no word on that since January.

There’s no word on a release date for the Tomb Raider animated series on Netflix just yet, so keep watching this space for more when we hear it.
