With Starfield’s early access about to open its doors to legions of fans, Bethesda’s Todd Howard has taken to the game’s official subreddit to thank them for their support.

Popping up under his own account – ToddBethesda – on Reddit, Howard had the following message for those fans: “A quick THANK YOU for your passion and excitement for Starfield. I can remember when this sub started, and as it’s grown, your excitement has fuelled all of us at Bethesda. We like to say we have gaming’s smartest fans and you certainly are. Starfield has been a labour of love for us and the fact that all of you care enough to build a community around it means the world to us. We can’t wait for you to play.”

Mr Howard’s response was met with equally kind words of appreciation for his team’s efforts on the game, feeding into that same excitement the community have over the imminent Starfield early access start time. “I’m beyond excited. I feel like a kid before Christmas. I’m at work counting the hours lol” responded Vexmythosclastt. Some were in disbelief that Todd himself was posting in the community reddit. “Holy s*** it’s him!!” exclaims ExaltedStillness. “Thank you Todd and everyone at Bethesda for everything that you do – I cannot wait to get my hands on Starfield.”

“Todd Howard just casually revealing he’s been lurking around the sub. Love it!” added Cipher1991. “Seriously though, thanks Todd and everyone at Bethesda Games Studio. You guys have had me hooked since Skyrim. Looking forward to another great adventure across the galaxy in Starfield.” It’s enough to make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Or if not, maybe this comment from CrazyPrsn will.

“This will probably get lost in the sea of comments, but thanks so much for making something that truly honours the sci-fi genre. Thank you (and the rest of the team) for putting something out there that will make children see the beauty the future can be, and may it spark a drive to go and find it! I showed the Direct to my children aged 12 and 15 – I saw stars in their eyes. You must know what that does to a dad to see his adolescent kids show true awe for the hope of exploration. This is a damn good mood, bud. Thanks so much.”
