The next instalment of the multi-skilled racing franchise is on its way to the PSP, and will feature loads of officially licensed cars and real-world tracks. The game also includes a new World Challenge game mode, which explains the game’s title.

In World Challenge players compete in a series on international championships, moving through tiers into more advanced stages. Each tier begins with a series of tests designed to improve your skills as a racer – the important things like racing line, damage control, braking, and manoeuvring are all covered.

Once the tests are out of the way, players will move onto the main event – the Championship season. Here you must compete in a range of circuits, and in order to progress to the next tier you’ll have to win the championship. These championships will see you travelling all over the world, competing in events such as the British GP and the American Race series. Once you’ve won each championship there’s the challenge of winning the global Masters Championship.

The World Challenge is the game’s primary game mode, but there are also Time Trial, Free Race, and Multiplayer modes on offer. Up to 12 players can race wirelessly, and, unlike the previous instalment in the franchise, up to four players can race wirelessly with only one copy of the game thanks to game sharing.

TOCA Race Driver 3 Challenge is scheduled for release only in PAL territories in the winter.
