Gearbox has shown off the first gameplay from upcoming Borderlands spin-off Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands and dated the game for March of 2022.

Shown off last night as part of the PlayStation Showcase, we were shown something familiar but given a fantasy twist. Yes, there’s guns and loot galore, but there’s also new mechanics like spellcasting, character creation and a table-top like overworld. Gone are desert wastelands, and in their place are dank forests, foreboding fortresses and more.

We also got an update on the game’s new cast and the celebrities voicing them. Alongside Ashly Burch’s Tiny Tina we have rule-obsessed robot Frette played by Wanda Sykes from The Good Fight. The game’s big baddie The Dragon Lord is played by Arrested Development and Lego Batman star Will Arnett. The cast is rounded off by headstrong captain Valentine who will be voiced by none other than Brooklyn Nine Nine‘s Andy Samberg.

We’ve got some returning characters as well, including a Fairy Punchfather who appears to be none other than Borderlands 2‘s Mr Torgue. And we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention everyone’s favourite crystal unicorn: Butt Stallion. We can likely expect more Borderlands fan-favourites making similar cameos.
