Embracer Group label THQ Nordic has announced it’ll be holding its second annual Digital Showcase digital event this August.
The company promises to present several brand new games at the event, as well as updates on existing ones. The label is keeping specifics vague at this very early stage. However, they’re teasing they’ll be showing “everything from intense, dark and gritty to light, colourful and just plain fun.”
Last year’s first event celebrated the 10th anniversary of the THQ Nordic label under the Embracer banner. It included six new game reveals, including ELEX II and Destroy All Humans! 2: Reprobed. We presume we’ll get an update on the latter during this year’s show, as well as SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake.

Other projects we know of but we haven’t had an update on in a while include the new TimeSplitters game, so maybe we’ll hear how pre-production is going on at stablemate Deep Silver. Then of course, there’s always a chance of an update on Dead Island 2. Rumours from back in February claimed the long-long-long delayed zombie shooter was finally ready to be re-unveiled this year and released in 2023. Could this be the time it rises from the dead?
We’ll have to wait and see to find out, but in the meantime you can check out the trailer below. The THQ Nordic 2022 Digital Showcase will kick off at 8pm UK time on Friday, August 12. You’ll be able to watch it on the company’s official YouTube and Twitch channels.
