Fortnite players will always debate long on what exactly are the best weapons to use in the battle royale shooter, whether going in quickly and close with a shotgun, or picking their foes off from a distance. But the sniper rifle is always a popular choice for the discerning Fortnite player, and for good reason.
Now, thanks to a recent video posted to the Fortnite subreddit by Brendanj258, sniper rifles are once more getting their day in the sun – as the player shows just how effective the weapon can be in the right hands. The clip, which has a whopping 4252 upvotes at the time of writing, shows a player almost effortlessly getting three quick kills in succession, carefully lining up their shots for a one shot, one kill KO on each one, to an impressed response from the community.
There’s plenty jealous of the prowess on display “There are two different types of sniper rifles” responds jazzmagg. “The ones that hit every headshot, and the ones I use.” (Which pretty much mirrors our own experience.) “I once hit a guy twice with a Legendary sniper and he still killed me. I hate my life.” adds notdez. Of course, there’s a few community members who’ve praised the OPs skills too, including TalkTimesreddit “Great stuff op, this is how snipers are meant to be used, not the 2x scope and bs.” In fact, MirageTF2 goes a little further, saying that it’s not that the weapon is too powerful as “hitting sniper shots this consistent takes a genuine amount of skill.”
A number of users also pointed out how the clip reminds them of sniping in other games, such as bubbieboy1 who says “Sniping this season feels a little like sniping in Battlefield 1, I love it” and a few responses harking back to Team Fortress 2’s sniper. But in the world of Fortnite, it seems that Sniper Rifles will be a regular feature in the meta for some time to come.
