Today’s Fortnite update has brought new content. Once again, Epic Games released a content update that doesn’t require any download. Instead, the development team simply pushed out the new content and activated it on live servers. Our Fortnite patch notes cover everything that arrived on Tuesday, so keep reading to see all the changes.

It’s important to note that these changes have been automatically applied to Fortnite. If you don’t see them yet, you will have to start a new game.

Today’s Fortnite update unvaulted a controversial item

The first content update of Chapter 5 came out on January 2. It brought the Enforcer AR and FlowBerry Fizz, while also ending the Winterfest 2023 event. Today’s Fortnite update also brought back a unique item, and Week 6 quests are now also available. By completing the new quests, you can earn more than 100,000 XP and level up your Battle Pass.

These are the brief Fortnite patch notes:

  • Lock-On Pistol is back and can be found in most loot sources, including chests and floor loot
  • Week 6 challenges are now out

The Lock-On Pistol was first added in Chapter 4 – Season 2. This weapon used to be controversial, although many players learned how to defend themselves against it later on. What makes this pistol unique is its feature to lock on the target, meaning you don’t have to aim with it. However, the downside is that locking the target down takes a lot of time, which leaves you exposed to enemy attacks.

Epic Games recently returned from a company-wide winter break. Due to this, we expect another major update to arrive later this month. Considering that Tuesdays are reserved for updates, the next big update may arrive on January 16. Unlike content updates, which are much smaller, major updates contain a lot more data and need to be downloaded.
