The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt may be seven years old, but fans will soon get to see Geralt’s 2015 adventure with fresh eyes thanks to the game’s upcoming next gen update.
Having first being announced back before the current-gen consoles were out, the term next-gen may feel a odd now, but it helps that CD Projekt Red are including a whole host of features above and beyond a simple up-res to justify the moniker.

What is the release date of The Witcher 3 Next Gen Update?
The Witcher 3 Next Gen update is set to go live on December 14, 2022 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
You’ll be able to get the update for free if you already own the game – and if you don’t, there’ll be a new version of the game available to buy that includes all the new content on the same day.
There’s going to be plenty of fans to get their teeth stuck into, as evidenced when the development studio showed off the patch in a recent livestream.
The stream showed off some of the new features coming in the update – which of course include the new improved visuals with effects like Ray Tracing and better textures.
But if that wasn’t enough, there’ll be some new features with this upgrade, including but not limited to a brand new camera angle and a Photo Mode.
There’ll also be a couple of additions celebrating the hugely popular Netflix series starring Henry Cavill. You can check out the full livestream recording for yourself down below.
