The Lord of the Rings Return to Moria is the next J.R.R. Tolkien-inspired adventure entry that’s slated for release in Fall 2023. An in-depth gameplay trailer narrated by legendary Gimli actor John Rhys-Davies had also been exhibited during the Summer Game Fest 2023 showcase and it revealed the fact that players would be taking the role of a brave dwarf company that are looking to take back Dwarrowdelf.

Developer Free Range Games’ short preview also gave us a quick look at the enemies and areas that’ll be heavily featured throughout the entirety of the story, most of which predictably included scenes of the labyrinthine locale of Moria itself. Its currently unclear, though, what some of the other in-game locations are going to look like as most of the clip’s events took place in the mine.

Although the timing of this release is still highly dubious due to The Lord of the Rings Gollum’s negative community reception, it’s safe to say that Return to Moria’s premise should be way more exciting than playing as the helpless, ring-obsessed creature. For now, however, we’ll have to wait until an actual release date is given out as only a launch window has been provided for the time being.

If you want to see what’s in store this time around, then we recommend taking a look at the short preview that’s been provided so far.
