Publisher Playism and developer White Owls Inc have announced detective life sim The Good Life will finally launch this October.

The game is the latest from the mind of Deadly Premonition creator Hidetaka “Swery” Suehiro. Playing as investigative photographer Naomi Hayward, you’ll find yourself in the sleepy English town of Rainy Woods. The town’s idyllic appearance is holding some sort of dark secret, not least the fact its residents can seemingly transform into cats and dogs.

To uncover the town’s mysteries, you’ll be taking photos but you’ll also be using them to pay off your debts. You’ll also be finding recipes, planting and growing crops, renovating your house and garden and more. At the same time as all the quaint life-sim stuff though, you’ll be solving a a few murders here or there, as you do.

The Good Life was first announced all the way back in 2017 by Swery. It started off on crowdfunding platform Fig before trying again on Kickstarter with a more modest target about a year later. Since then it’s been passed around a couple of publishers, but finally looks to be seeing the finish line now.

Check out the release date trailer for yourself down below. The Good Life lands on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC on October 15.
