Publisher Playism has announced that action adventure Record of Lodoss War: Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth will arrive on console next month.

The 2D side-scroller is a new entry in manga series Record of Lodoss War. It sees protagonist Deedlit wake up with amnesia in a mysterious, distinctly gothic location. As you can tell from the trailer, the game has a few nods to its inspiration of the Castlevania series.

You’ll explore the labyrinth with your sword and arrow attacks, and pick up new weapons along the way. As is traditional for a Metroidvania, expect these tools and weapons to allow you to access new areas of the map as you play. You’ll also be able to change attributes through the use of elemental spirits. These will add specific flavours to your attacks, such as Salamander who can protect you against fire-based attacks. The spirits can themselves be levelled up through ‘Soul Screams’ collected by defeating enemies.

As well as a digital release, the game will also be getting a physical release on PlayStation and Switch in January 2022 care of Red Art Games. For now, you can check out a trailer for the game below.

Record of Lodoss War: Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth will launch digitally first, meanwhile, on December 16. It’ll be available on on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
